Pseudonymization

Replacing direct identifiers, such as names, with codes so records no longer point to a person without extra information.
Under GDPR, pseudonymized data is still personal data because it can be re-linked using the key. It lowers risk but does not remove legal obligations.
Consistent placeholders keep records readable, for example the same customer appearing as Customer A throughout a ticket thread.
