SourceX

Data licensing for companies winding down

Data licensing for trustees, receivers and closing companies. SourceX licenses approved business archives directly, subject to rights, selection and agreed terms.

Your operating archive can still have value

A closed or closing company may still license its approved business records to SourceX. SourceX is the contracting party, from agreement through delivery and payment. A review does not guarantee a deal.

Who qualifies

Companies that are still operating, acquired or wound down can qualify, subject to the main program requirements.

This program focuses on companies with 50+ full-time employees at peak and 5+ years of records. Contractors do not count toward the full-time threshold.

Best suited to companies with 50+ full-time employees at peak (contractors excluded) and several years of operating history. SourceX prioritizes companies in the U.S. and also works with companies in Canada and the EU, and with companies in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore, South Africa, Latin America, the UAE and Saudi Arabia when at least 70% of their data is in English. Companies that are still operating, acquired, or wound down can all qualify.

Working with trustees and courts

1. Check fit with a high-level overview. No record uploads.

2. Review an indicative offer from SourceX.

3. Agree the Master Supplier Licensing Agreement and Dataset Deal Confirmation.

4. The supplier must have the rights and authority to enter the signed agreement.

5. Prepare and de-identify the approved records before permitted use.

6. Deliver the approved dataset, complete review and record Closing.

7. Invoice after Closing. Payment is due within 60 calendar days after SourceX receives a valid invoice, unless the signed agreement says otherwise.

Illustrative timeline

Fit and inventory review come first. The Master starts the assessment; the signed Confirmation fixes delivery and Closing dates. Preparation, acceptance, invoice and payment follow those written dates. This is an illustrative sequence, not a promised completion date.

Trustee questions

Which records are excluded? Records the estate cannot lawfully license, prohibited sensitive material and any agreed exclusions stay outside the dataset.

How is personal information handled? Required de-identification is completed and checked before permitted use. The processing route and instructions are documented.

What if the deal does not close? Affected data is declined and deletion follows the signed retention rules, generally within 30 days.

Who signs? The supplier must have the rights and authority to enter the signed agreement.

Who receives payment? SourceX pays the supplier entity named in the signed documents using the agreed invoicing and payment details.

Do we upload records during the fit check? No. Begin with a high-level overview of the company and its systems.

Does an indicative offer guarantee a purchase? No. The exact dataset, fee and Closing conditions are set in the signed Confirmation.

Do we retain our original records? The supplier retains its underlying rights. SourceX's rights in the de-identified dataset are set by the signed agreement.
