Question
Do AI buyers need my company name?
By SourceX Editorial · Updated
Short answer
Usually not for the data itself. Company names, client names and identifying details are typically removed from records. The buyer may need to know who it is contracting with for legal and diligence reasons, but that can be kept confidential.
Part of: How licensing works
Explanation#
Buyers care about rights and quality, not branding.
Public attribution only happens if you agree to it.
Rights and privacy#
- Confirm customer, vendor and employee agreements allow the use
- Remove or de-identify personal details before anything leaves the company
- Approve the final dataset and permitted uses in writing
How licensing works#
A business describes its data, buyer demand is assessed, scope and permitted use are proposed, the data is prepared and de-identified, an agreement is signed, and the approved dataset is delivered. See data licensing for detail.
