JSON Schema validator for datasets

Quick answer

Paste a JSON Schema and a JSONL sample. Each record is validated and every failure is listed with its record number, instance path and the keyword that failed.

Limit: 10 MiB or 25,000 records

Your sample is processed in this browser. File contents are not uploaded.

Supported input

A JSON Schema (draft-07) plus JSONL records, each up to 10 MiB; up to 25,000 records.

How it works

Validation uses the Ajv library running in your browser, configured for JSON Schema draft-07 in strict mode with all errors reported (up to 50 per record). Unknown keywords are rejected rather than ignored. Remote $ref URLs are never fetched; inline definitions under definitions or $defs instead. The format keyword is not enforced.

Limitations

  • Other dialects (2019-09, 2020-12) and custom keywords are not supported; the tool says so instead of guessing.
  • Very complex pattern regular expressions can slow the page; patterns run in your browser's regex engine.

Questions

How do I validate JSON against a schema?
Paste your JSON Schema (draft-07) and your records as JSONL, then press Validate records. Every failure shows the record, the field path and the rule that failed.
Which JSON Schema versions are supported?
Draft-07. Newer dialects and custom keywords are reported as unsupported rather than guessed at.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is read and processed in this browser tab, and its contents are not sent to SourceX or anyone else. Closing the tab or pressing Reset clears it.
