For AI data buyers

How buying business data works

Quick answer

Four steps: check fit, request data, agree price, sign a license. SourceX sources records from US businesses and manages the whole transaction — you never negotiate with individual businesses yourself.

Step 1: Fit check#

Tell us what your AI needs in plain words — for example, customer support conversations from healthcare companies, or sales records from logistics businesses. We check whether US businesses hold those records, in what volume, and whether they are likely to share them.

  • You describe the data, not the businesses. You never have to find or approach companies yourself.
  • We tell you within 2 business days whether we can source it and roughly what is available.
  • If the fit is weak, we say so and suggest the closest thing businesses actually hold.

Step 2: Request data#

A fit check becomes a formal data request. We write up the scope — industries, record types, volume, format — and take it to businesses in our network that match.

  • We approach businesses on your behalf. Their names stay private until a business agrees to work with you.
  • Each business decides what to share. Personal details are removed before any records reach you, and nothing moves without that business's written approval.
  • You see a scoped summary of what is available — record counts, coverage, systems they come from — before you commit to anything.

Step 3: Pricing#

We don't publish prices, because every request is scoped differently. Price is set deal by deal, and you pay per agreed license — no subscription, no upfront fee.

  • What moves the price: how many records you need, how much history they cover, how complete and clean they are, the rights the business holds, and whether you want exclusivity.
  • You get a written quote with the exact scope, price and delivery terms before anything is agreed.
  • SourceX is paid as part of the transaction — the price you are quoted is the price you pay.

Step 4: Licensing#

The license is the contract between you and the business, and SourceX manages it end to end.

  • It defines exactly which records are included, what the data can be used for, how long the license runs, and how delivery happens.
  • Rights are reviewed before signing: we check the business actually owns or may share the records, and that required consents are in place.
  • Exclusivity is the default for most licenses; non-exclusive terms are available when a business agrees and the price reflects it.
  • If you need more data later — new records, a longer term, another industry — we extend or renew the same way.

Common questions

How long does a data request take?

We reply within 2 business days on whether we can source it. How long sourcing takes after that depends on the kind of records you need and how many businesses hold them — we give you a timeline with our first reply.

How is price decided?

Deal by deal. Price depends on scope, volume, how much history the records cover, the rights a business holds, and whether the license is exclusive. Terms are agreed in writing before any data moves.

Do you publish prices?

No. Every request is scoped individually, so a published price would be wrong for most requests. There are no upfront fees for buyers — you pay per agreed license.

What does a license cover?

Each license defines exactly what records are included, what the data can be used for, how long it runs, and how it is delivered. The business that holds the records approves the license before anything is shared.
